Kerim Akmamedov

Kerim Akmamedov has been practicing law since 1989. He is the managing partner of AK Counsel, which has an association with SNR Denton, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. AK Counsel has 20 lawyers, including four partners, and focuses its advice on business and foreign investments in Turkmenistan. Under the terms of the association, SNR Denton and AK Counsel combine their resources to provide legal advice to clients wishing to enter Turkmenistan's emerging market. 

Kerim has participated in the development of Turkmenistan legislation since 1992. He has participated in the development of Turkmenistan banking, tax, economic and social legislation. He has acted as legal advisor to the Turkmenistan Government in economic negotiations involving development projects with delegations from various countries. He regularly attends international conferences, speaking on such topics as the Turkmen economic model, privatization of state-owned enterprises and the attraction of foreign investments.

Kerim has published numerous articles on Turkmenistan legal issues, to include: the legal aspects of state regulation on the economy; the attraction of foreign investments; and the oil and gas sector. His professional articles have been published in “Altyn Asyryn Ykdysayeti” economic journal. He is also a regular lecturer for the Foreign Economic Relations Department of Turkmen State University.

Kerim graduated with a law degree from the State University of Turkmenistan in 1989. He also earned a diploma in Economic Legislation, based on the thesis “The Constitutional Basis of the Economy of Turkmenistan”.
