Tat Lim

Lim Tat is the managing partner of Aequitas Law LLP.  He founded the firm in 2008 with the goal of providing sophisticated legal services to clients who treasure discrete and personalised attention.  Tat takes pride in the firm's abilities to provide clients with relevant and cost effective representation and solutions.

Tat was called to the Singapore Bar in 1989 and admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2004. He holds an LL.B (Hons), an MBA / LL.M and an MSc (Construction Law & Arbitration) (Merit) from King’s College London / National University of Singapore.  He is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Tat is an accredited mediator at Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC), Subordinate Courts of Singapore, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) (UK), the National Mediator Accreditation System (LEADR) (Australia) and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA).  He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public.

Tat is a strong advocate and supporter of mediation as the preferred choice of ADR.  He considers it a victory for clients when disputes are resolved without escalation to trial at litigation, adjudication or arbitration. Where mediation is unsuitable, he leads a team of litigation advocates with substantial experience in providing sophisticated advice and vigorous representation in litigation, adjudication and arbitration.

Tat enjoys a wide spectrum of practice and has extensive experience in mediation, litigation, adjudication and arbitration. He has appeared as counsel in the Subordinate Courts, High Court and Court of Appeal of Singapore and in domestic and international arbitrations. He has also been appointed as expert in foreign court proceedings; as arbitrator in Singapore International Arbitration Centre proceedings; and mediator in SMC and court proceedings.

Tat is privileged to be involved in various nationwide initiatives emphasizing consensual outcomes in dispute resolution.  His involvement includes training participants in negotiation and mediation workshops conducted by the SMC and Singapore Institute of Legal Education.
