Beat von Rechenberg

Dr Beat von Rechenberg is the senior member in CMS von Erlach Henrici AG's dispute resolution team. He has special knowledge in the financial, pharmaceutical, energy and telecoms sectors. With his background as a former court clerk and as investigator appointed by the Swiss Bankers Association, Beat von Rechenberg has a wide experience as a litigator and fact finder.

Beat von Rechenberg is widely recognised for his work as arbitration counsel at the bar and on the bench. As former Chairman of the Zurich Bar Association (1999/2000) and past president of the Swiss Bar Association (July 2011 - June 2013) he is regarded and accepted as impartial umpire with high reputation and, accordingly, is regularly appointed as arbitrator or as chairman in ICC, UNCITRAL, ad-hoc arbitration and, in particular, in arbitral procedures governed by the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration.

Beat von Rechenberg graduated magna cum laude from the universities of Zurich (lic iur) and Basle (Dr iur). In 1977 he was admitted to the Bar in Zurich and was awarded the Master of Comparative Jurisprudence by New York University in 1980. Beat von Rechenberg served for two years (between 1975 and1977) as clerk at the Zurich District Court and later at the Zurich Court of Appeals. Further, he worked one year with the New York law firm Fox Glynn & Melamed (the legacy firm of Fox & Horan and Becker Glynn Melamed & Muffly).
