Problem which emerged centred on failure of central heating boiler with a £3,000 repair bill. D&R successfully recovered all costs and associated expenses from the landlord. If this action had been pursued through normal legal channels it would have cost in the order of £3,000 - £5,000 with no guarantee of success. Letting Agent. Dispute of tenant with neighbour requiring remedy to be sought by the Managing Letting Agent. Initial investigation of solution through normal channels indicated costs in the order of £2,500. Situation resolved through D&R under the Standard. Sole Trader. Dispute with bank. This client went overdrawn by £2. The bank responded by imposing various charges amounting to a total in excess of £400. Faced with this excessive bill the Sole Trader sought D&R's help through her Agreement. The charges were written off in full within 7 days. Had the Sole Trader sought help through normal legal channels the costs incurred would have been at least three times the bank charges. Business Sale. A businessman sold his business which had a client’s account. On the day of signing the client’s account was assigned to the new. After 6 months the limited company that was used to trade from before the business was sold was dissolved as it was needed. When it was dissolved the bank froze the clients account and was to ‘grab’ the money for the treasury. After many emails and intervention by D & R the bank in question conceded that the account belonged to the new buyers at takeover. The account has now been closed and funds transferred totally to the new buyers clients account. It is estimated a saving for over £5,000.00 has been made in legal costs to prove the new buyers point- all with the help of using D & R. Company Director. Received a County Court Claim from a firm of Debt Collectors on behalf of third party. The CO. Director was not even a party to this spurious claim but the debt collection company would not listen – they even made threats’ to the director over the phone. D & R intervened and got the matter stayed at court with an order that the claimant can prove their claim – to date the claimant has not as it is know they cannot. Again the D & R client has saved hundreds in legal costs. The case has not been struck out.
