Mihai Guia is the Managing Partner of Eversheds Lina & Guia and the coordinator of the firm’s Competition and Antitrust practice. Prior to founding Lina & Guia, he has worked in the Competition department of the London and Brussels offices of an international law firm. Mihai is a qualified Romanian attorney, with a solid legal background, educated in Romania and France. He has national and international extensive experience in the competition area, having been involved in EU and local merger filings and EU and Romanian cartel and other investigations. Mihai has drafted the Romanian chapter of the "Howrey Worldwide Merger Filing Handbook" and is author of ICN's (International Competition Network) "ICN Merger filing template" for Romania. Mihai is fluent English, French and Romanian. Mihai focuses on franchising agreement, specifically on Competition law compliance and enforceability review. Some of the international clients Mihai has advised on their franchising documents are: Ikea, Costa International, Next International, and the European Learning Center. We have a strong and nationally and internationally recognized Competition and Antitrust practice, having acted for: • Advising a large number of companies in a diversity of industries (such as Reckitt Benckiser, the Romanian Post Office, InterMarche Group, Cosmote Romanian Mobile Telecommunications, Danone) in competition investigations opened by the Competition Council; • Merger filing for the acquisition by Cosmote of Telemobil (a very complex transaction representing the combination of the third and fourth largest mobile network operators in Romania, with significant implications on the telecommunications market); • Romanian merger filing of the 4.4 billion EUR acquisition of Amadeus Global Travel Distribution SA (worldwide leader in the computerized reservation industry); • Advising the Romanian regulator on implementation of secondary legislation in the competition field under an EU-funded pre-accession technical cooperation program; • Merger filing for the acquisition of Happy Tour by GED Eastern Fund II; • Merger clearance of the acquisition by Aquila of control over three local companies acting on the coffee and snacks vending segment of the market; • Merger filing of the acquisition of Plus GSM by a vehicle of GED Easter Fund; • Competition compliance assessments and audits for a number of clients – full review of their activities with relevance under Competition Law; To further support our clients in their day-to-day business, we have put together a competition compliance toolkit - we have created a comprehensive competition toolkit which responds to internal needs of our clients in connection with competition law compliance matters.
