Notable clients include Alibaba Group Holding Limited, for whom the firm assisted in filing 44 patent applications covering various technologies within a 12-month period; Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp. Ltd., for which it enforced IP rights against infringers in the Philippines; as well as Silca Coffee Roasting Company, whom the firm supported in enforcing the "KICK-START" trademark.

At the helm of HBVAR's IP practice is Managing Partner Editha R Hechanova, a distinguished lawyer and CPA. She holds a business degree, magna cum laude, from the University of the East, a law degree from Ateneo de Manila University, as well as a certificate in strategic business economics from the University of Asia & the Pacific. Ms Hechanova is also a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst and an alumna of the South East Asia Patent Drafting Course.
Her professional affiliations include: President of the Association of Patent Agent Qualifying Examination (PAQE) Professionals; Vice President of the IP Collegium, an organisation of IP experts in ASEAN, India and Brazil; as well as Accredited Mediator and Arbitrator with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Last, but not least, Ms Hechanova’s contributions to IP law have been recognised by numerous publications, such as AsiaLaw Magazine: Leading Lawyer in IP Law (2002–2021); Who's Who Legal: recognised in Trademarks (2012–2021); as well as Asia Business Law Journal: listed among the Top 100 Lawyers in the Philippines (2018–2021).
