Jihad Al-Taie
Jihad graduated in law from the University of the United Arab Emirates in 1983 and was awarded his LLM in International Business Law by the University of Hull in England in 2002. He is licensed to appear before the Supreme Court of Oman and is also an arbitrator at the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. He is the current President of the Omani Lawyers' Association and the Secretary General of the Omani Human Rights Commission.
Jihad has worked as a Diplomat which included postings as a) the chargé d' affaires - Embassy of Sultanate of Oman to France and b) Deputy Permanent Representative to UNESCO.
His experience includes:
(i) Director of the Legal Affairs - Ministry of Transport & Communications
(ii) Legal Advisor – Ministry of Defence
(iii) Acting Chief of Legal Department – Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(iv) Director of Interpretation and Disputes Office - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(v) Member – Government Tender Board
Of particular note has been his work on (a) the establishment of (i) Salalah Port (ii) Salalah Free Zone and (iii) Sohar Industrial Area and Port and (b) the privatisation of Seeb (now Muscat) International Airport.
