Charlotta Poehler

Charlotta Poehler focuses on intellectual property and commercial law. She started her career 20 years ago in New York, first at the IP firm Pennie & Edmonds and later at the IP boutique law firm Fross, Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu.

Upon returning to Sweden Charlotta started working at the general practice firm Cederquist where she built up a practice with focus on legal counsel to businesses with significant intellectual property values especially within fashion and design, life sciences and IT. In 2009, Charlotta started the law firm Kanter where she is practicing today. Kanter is a mid-size firm that focuses on corporate commercial, IP/IT and litigation. Charlotta counsels her clients on commercial agreements, the management of and strategies for IP portfolios and the acquisition and sale of companies whose values, to a significant part, are based on intellectual property.

Charlotta works with several of Sweden’s most successful fashion brands and works on a daily basis with international clearance and protection of designs and trademarks in the fashion industry. Whereas trademark law is fairly harmonised throughout the world, the international clearance and protection of designs is quite complex in view of the fact that it differs significantly from country to country where the EU is more generous with granting both copyright and design protection to fashion designs than many other countries.

Within life science, Charlotta works with businesses in all phases of the life cycle of pharmaceuticals from early clinical research to generic products. In recent years Charlotta has also started advising several large food and drink brands, including issues relating to collective trademarks and Protected Designations of Origin and Traditional Specialities Guaranteed.
