Mayia was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. She graduated from the University of Manchester (LLB with honours) in the United Kingdom and after having successfully completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), she was called to the Bar of England & Wales and is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, as well as of the Famagusta and Cyprus Bar Association. Mayia has obtained a Masters in Law (LLM) specialising in corporate law from University College London (UCL). She is a Conciliator and an accredited Mediator from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Cyprus, and is a member of the Cyprus Consumer Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

She is also acting on behalf of the real estate departments of major banking institutions in Cyprus, advising them in regards to the acquisition of properties through debt for asset swaps, sales, distributions, leases and in general all real estate matters.
