Josef graduated from the University of Malta as a Doctor of Laws in 2011 with his doctoral thesis titled "A Comparative Analysis of the Legal Requirements of Copyright Law”. He is now in his final years of obtaining a Masters Degree in Financial Services with the University of Malta, with his second thesis titled, "The Single Supervisory Mechanism; The Legal and Practical implications of this new supervisory structure.” He has also obtained a certificate in Trusts Law and Trust Administration from the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.
He furthermore holds a warrant to practice as an Advocate in Malta.
