Laurie is copyright adviser to the European Publishers Council. He was the lead author of their ‘Vision Document for the Future of Copyright. From December 2008 to August 2010, Laurie served as a member of the Copyright Expert Panel appointed by the UK Strategic Advisory Board for Intellectual Property Policy. Most recently, he contributed to the Hargreaves Review on Intellectual Property.
Laurie advises and lectures regularly on digital media and e-commerce legal issues in Europe. He has worked closely on a number of key EU Directives, including the Copyright, Database and E-Commerce Directives. He also takes part regularly in copyright policy think tanks and roundtable discussions with policy makers and industry. Laurie is also a regular blogger on digital media law.
