Masato Shibata

Masato Shibata is attorney-at-law and a partner of Legal Profession Corporation CAST.  He is admitted in Japan and New York.  He graduated from Tokyo University and has a LL.M degree from New York University.  He is a STEP member of the Hong Kong branch. His experience as a lawyer is more than 20 years and extends to wide-raging areas such as cross-border transactions, corporate, M&A, litigations and family matters.  Recently, one of his interests is responding to a growing demand of worldwide individuals for on and offshore estate planning with the influx of people from many other countries and the rapidly aging population in Japan.

Those who have assets in Japan, regardless of whether they live in or outside Japan, or who live without any substantial assets in Japan are strongly recommended to seek professional advice to understand their legal and tax position for estate planning.  Also, the successors of a deceased who had assets and/or lived in Japan are inevitable to understand their legal and tax position in Japan.
