Owen Foley

Owen practises extensively in the areas of corporate and commercial, commercial property development and tourism, and inward investment, and is a regular contributor to international publications on TCI corporate, development and financial law matters.

TCI’s recent preeminence as the Caribbean centre of luxury hospitality has seen Owen advise regularly on major foreign investments in TCI, on agreements between those foreign investors and the TCI Government, and on related financing, joint venture and corporate structuring issues, including on whole-island and major resort projects.

From time to time, Owen has sat on private sector committees consulting with the TCI Government on possible legislative changes and statutory initiatives, primarily in the financial and real estate areas.  In the recent past, these have included input on a proposed wholesale modernisation of the Companies Ordinance, on trusts law issues, and on the enactment of legislation authorising fractional real estate regimes in TCI.

Owen is a graduate of University College, Dublin and has been admitted to practice in Ireland (1982), Australia (Victoria) (1985) and the Turks and Caicos Islands (1988).  He is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners.

Corporate and Commercial

Our Corporate and Commercial team has extensive international and domestic experience and advises in a variety of transactional work including corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financing.

The team also advises on restructuring and re-organizations, liquidations and receiverships, initial public offerings of TCI entities and re-domiciliation, and a wide variety of contractual matters. Additionally, the firm provides TCI advice to international advisors and financial institutions in relation to international transactions entered into by TCI entities.

The firm has a long experience in the formation and structuring of companies, limited partnerships and limited liability companies for use in international transactions and advising corporations, entrepreneurs and foreign advisors on all aspects of TCI corporate and business law.
