Since our law firm’s formation, we have a particular reputation for corporate law and intellectual property rights as well as inheritance law, including business succession planning. The lawyers Prof. Dr. Konrad Duden and Prof. Heinz Rowedder founded the firm in 1950 in Mannheim. Prof. Dr. Konrad Duden was the author of the Baumbach/Duden Commentary to the German Commercial Code (Handelsgesetzbuch, HGB) and Prof. Heinz Rowedder was the author of the commentary to the GmbH-Law named after him. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Klaus Zimmermann and Dr. Peter Hass joined the firm. Since its formation, the firm has worked on national as well as international cases. Particular specialities are corporate, intellectual property and inheritance. Rowedder Zimmermann Hass contributed specifically to the development of corporate law by case work as well as by academic publications. In intellectual property law, the District Court Mannheim, where matters of industrial property law including cartel law have been concentrated since 1951, is the second most important jurisdiction in Germany. The support and planning of private and business property, including business succession, are also in the firm’s focus. Rowedder Zimmermann Hass combines high academic qualifications with far-reaching economic understanding. Prof. Dr. Duden was appointed as Full Professor in 1965 at the University of Mannheim. Prof. Rowedder and Prof. Dr. Landsittel were named as Honorary Professors at the University of Mannheim in 1974 or, respectively, 2005. Individual members of the law firm experience particular honours by commemorative publications (Festschriften). All members of the law firm participate at all times in the ongoing legal discussions by authoring academic publications, in particular, also as authors of standard works. In addition, they are active as lecturers at universities and as lecturers at institutions of the Bar. Rowedder Zimmermann Hass celebrated the 60th anniversary of its existence last year.
