Erik Gierman

Erik Gierman, (1974), graduated in 2001 from the University of Groningen. He was admitted to the bar in 2002, as attorney at Houthoff Buruma. Later he joined Severijn Hulshof advocaten, of which firm he became partner in September 2011.

From the very start of his career, Erik started to specialise in construction and property law, as well as in insurance law connected these areas of expertise. Due to his extensive litigation experience, both in civil court proceedings and in arbitration, Erik offers his clients hands on assistance in all stages of construction projects. As such he may help to avoid disputes but may equally litigate disputes if they are unavoidable. Due to his extensive knowledge of – and specialisation in – the entire construction, design and advisory chain, many insurance companies call on him for assistance related to claims and procedures.

Together with the other members of the Severijn Hulshof team, Erik strives to find the best solution for his clients. Each client requests, and receives, a customised solution for its often complex legal issues. Such solutions are provided in clear language with an eye for the financial interests of the customer.

Erik is a lecturer for various institutions such as the (Dutch) Institute of Construction Law (IBR), the Academy for Legal Practice (AVDR), and the Academy for Real Estate (Academie voor Vastgoed).
