Javed Uddin

Javed Uddin is a consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon based in Leicester, and has been named ENT Surgery Advisory Expert of the Year in England at the Corporate INTL Global Awards 2025. Holding the qualifications BSc (Hons), MB ChB (Hons), FRCS (Eng) and FRCS (ORL-HNS), he practises at Spire Leicester Hospital and offers a wide-ranging otolaryngology service to both adult and paediatric patients.

Mr Uddin was appointed as an ENT consultant at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in 2012, and alongside his NHS role he sees private patients at Spire Leicester and Nuffield Health Leicester Hospitals, practising principally at the Spire hospital in Oadby. His appointment followed a distinguished training record: prior to taking up his consultant post he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Royal Society of Medicine for his performance in the national final surgical examinations, and he has since received the Caring at its Best award from the University Hospitals of Leicester.

His clinical practice covers the full breadth of ear, nose and throat medicine, with special interests that include sinus disease, allergy and nasal polyps, ENT disorders in children, voice disorders, snoring, neck lumps and thyroid disease. He has developed a super-specialist practice in endoscopic, or keyhole, surgery for ear, nose and throat conditions, a minimally invasive approach that can reduce recovery times and improve outcomes for suitable patients. This combination of general ENT expertise and a focused surgical sub-specialism allows him to manage a diverse caseload, from common complaints to more complex presentations.

Consultant ENT surgery is a demanding field that spans medical and surgical management of the head and neck, requiring both technical precision in the operating theatre and careful clinical judgment in diagnosis and advice. Mr Uddin's strong academic pedigree, reflected in his honours degrees and Royal Society of Medicine gold medal, together with his hospital appointments and consistently high patient ratings, point to a practitioner well regarded by patients and peers alike for the quality and care of his work.
