Javed Uddin

Javed Uddin is a consultant ear, nose and throat surgeon practising at Spire Leicester Hospital, and was recognised as ENT Surgery Advisory Expert of the Year in England at the 2024 Corporate INTL Global Awards. Holding the qualifications BSc (Hons), MB ChB (Hons), FRCS (Eng) and FRCS (ORL-HNS), he has built a specialist reputation in rhinology and advanced sinus surgery alongside the full range of ear, nose and throat care.

He completed training in all aspects of ENT disease and undertook fellowship training in thyroid and head and neck surgery, developing the breadth of expertise required of a modern consultant in the speciality. Prior to his consultant appointment he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Medicine for his performance in the national final surgical examinations, a distinction that marked him out among his peers. In 2012 he was appointed to the post of ENT consultant at the University Hospitals of Leicester.

Javed Uddin has a particular specialist practice in advanced sinus surgery, drawing on state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment. His areas of expertise include rhinology and sinus surgery, and he has extensive experience in endonasal surgery for nasal obstruction. For the most complex cases he uses three-dimensional navigation systems in advanced sinus surgery, technology that allows precise orientation during endoscopic procedures and supports safe and effective treatment of difficult conditions of the nose and sinuses.

His work encompasses the wider scope of the speciality as well as his rhinology focus. As a consultant ear, nose, throat, head, neck and thyroid surgeon, he manages a broad range of conditions affecting these areas, combining surgical treatment with diagnosis and ongoing care. Alongside his hospital practice he holds an honorary clinical lecturer position at the University of Leicester, contributing to the teaching and academic life of the medical school, and he has undertaken consultant ENT work at hospitals serving the surrounding area, extending access to specialist care beyond the city itself.
