Evelyne Friedel

Evelyne Friedel has been a member of the Paris Bar since 1992. Since 2008, Evelyne has been a partner in Taylor Wessing’s Paris office, where she heads two departments: “Competition, Distribution and Sales” and “Life Sciences”.

Evelyne started her career with Hyman Phelps & McNamara in 1989, a major food & drug law firm of Washington DC. She then worked for 16 years at the Paris offices of Siméon & Associés, Lovells and Jones Day.

As a specialist in European and competition law, Evelyne has handled major competition cases, in particular before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority. Evelyne also deals with notifications of mergers and acquisitions.

Experienced in contract law and in commercial law, Evelyne drafts and analyses R&D, license, distribution, agency agreements, and all types of commercial agreements.

Evelyne also assists clients in the context of their general compliance policy, particularly with regard to anti-corruption rules. As such, she is involved in the development of their risk mapping, handles the training of their employees and drafts their compliance programs.

Evelyne has developed an expertise on regulatory and compliance issues for the pharmaceutical and medical industry law (clinical research agreements, relationships between the industry and medical practitioners, etc.).

Finally, Evelyne deals with litigation and represents clients before the Competition authorities, as well as before civil and commercial courts.

Evelyne assists clients at an international level, from start-ups to major groups. Clients include Ricoh (International, Europe, France), Laboratoires
Thea and its European subsidiaries, AXA, Diana (Symrise Group), Cutera (Inc. and France), Biotest, Theramex.

Evelyne has lectured for several years at the University Paris (Panthéon Assas) and at the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences Po) and at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce of Clermont Ferrand. Evelyne regularly publishes articles in the field of competition, regulatory and distribution law.

Evelyne has a Doctor of Laws degree (thesis on the extraterritorial of US and EU competition laws), two post-graduate degrees in EU Law and in international trade law (Paris University), as well as a Master of Laws (LLM) in Common law studies (Georgetown University Law Center, Washington D.C.).

In addition, Evelyne is actively involved on a pro bono basis in the defense of the fundamental rights of people with disabilities and people with autism. She is the vice-president of the NGO Autism- Europe (former president 2008-2012). She has represented Autism- Europe before the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the United Nations and the WHO.
