Amie N. D. Bensouda founded Amie Bensouda & Co LP in the Gambia in 1995. Prior to private practice she worked for the Government of The Gambia for Fourteen years and was Solicitor General of The Gambia for 5 years (1990-1995) and also acted as Minister of Justice and Attorney General. As Solicitor General, she had overall responsibility for departments under the Ministry including the registration of Intellectual Property. She was respectively Legal Draftsperson; Chief Parliamentary Counsel and Counsel for the privatization of State owned Enterprises & Reform of Parastatals.
Ms. Bensouda’s professional areas of expertise include Litigation, Corporate & Commercial Law, Banking and Finance, Property, Public Policy and Regulation, Intellectual Property, Human Rights, and Dispute Resolution. She advises Local, Regional and international financial and corporate institutions including Government Agencies and parastatals on regulatory matters, international transactions and financial arrangements.
Ms. Bensouda was the President of the Gambia Bar Association for two consecutive terms. She serves on the Boards of various public and private institutions and is a part-time lecturer at the Gambia Law School.
