Appleby’s Guernsey office was established in April 2010 and converted to LLP status in March 2016. Appleby (Guernsey) LLP focuses on the three core areas of corporate, dispute resolution and private client & trusts. 

Kate Storey is a partner within the corporate department in Guernsey. She qualified as an English Solicitor in 2000 and as a Guernsey Advocate in 2009. She joined Appleby in November 2013 having worked in Guernsey at other law firms since 2007. Prior to this, Ms Storey worked as a commercial solicitor at Cobbetts in Manchester. 

She practises in the Funds & Investment Services and Banking & Asset Finance teams and has extensive experience of all areas of Guernsey corporate and commercial work, including investment funds, capital markets, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions and restructurings. 

Kate has specialist expertise in the establishment, listing and regulation of investment funds and the licensing and regulation of fund managers, financial services providers, SPVs and insurance vehicles under all of Guernsey’s financial regulatory laws. She frequently advises on alternative risk transfer transactions, including insurance linked securities, with recent transactions including advising a major fronting insurer on a marine reinsurance ILS transaction, and a leading global professional services company on a longevity risk transfer structure for its pension fund clients. Kate was one of Guernsey´s insurance specialists quoted in the FT Special Report on Guernsey published on 5 December 2014 and was the moderator for the Guernsey Finance ILS Insight seminar on 18 March 2015. 

She is Chair of the Guernsey Commercial Bar and currently sits on the technical committee of the Guernsey Investment Fund Association. 

Kate also has expertise in Intellectual Property and is a Guernsey registered image rights agent and patent agent.
