Constantinos Messios and his financial services team have been dealing with advising Cyprus Investment Firms (CIFs) and Funds since 2004. The team offers the full range of advice for the sector. It handles all applications and regulatory dealings with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). The team advises on related corporate and commercial matters. Mr Messios has particular expertise in handling disciplinary proceedings against regulated entities and appears regularly before the CySEC Board representing CIFs.
The firm has advised several large established clients, as well as overseeing and managing applications to CySEC for the granting and activation of CIF licenses for a variety of activities, from forex trading and binary trading to portfolio management.

A significant issue for the firm’s clients is the new regulatory regime implemented by the banking sector in the wake of the financial crisis of 2013, which has has of course affected investment and financial services generally.
“Enhanced compliance, KYC and anti-money laundering rules define the sector and allowing the clients to feel comfortable operating within this framework is essential in allowing them to run their business efficiently,” he explained. “We successfully work with our clients to overcome these obstacles and help to create a smooth and efficient operating environment.”
The firm has successfully handled a number of important license applications to CySEC for a variety of clients – for those intending to change owners, expand services on offer, and extend their reach in other jurisdictions. It has also represented a number of CIFs in proceedings before the commission.
“By taking our first steps into the Chinese market, we have succeeded in expanding the diversity of our client base there,” added Mr Messios.
In the next 12 months, C.D. Messios LLC’s main aim is to expand its client portfolio and look further into expanding into the growing Asian market.
