L.C. Rodrigo Abogados is an independent law firm that was established in Madrid on 23rd January 1974. The firm takes pride in offering creative, reliable and timely solutions. With that mind-set the firm has since then been providing legal assistance to a wide variety of Spanish and foreign businesses and individuals.

The main areas of practice are civil and business law; insurance and reinsurance; regulatory; legal risk management; and disputes resolution (litigation, arbitration and mediation). The firm has always had an international vocation, which is reflected in the composition of its clientele, that is truly global, and the cross-border nature of many of the matters entrusted to it.

The firm’s dispute resolution department deals with complex insurance and reinsurance claims and commercial cases at large.  Particularly it deals with the so called “large risks” where the parties to an insurance contract are free to agree as they wish subject to certain limits. Under normal circumstances these cases involve several layers of insurers and reinsurers and complex casualty and property risks and claims. Emphasis may be laid on financial lines, such as D&O, and fire, construction, cyber, public liability and general liability.

Jorge Angell

Jorge Angell is the senior partner of L.C. Rodrigo Abogados, specialised in corporate and commercial law, insurance and reinsurance law, private international law, litigation, arbitration, and mediation.

He acts frequently as expert in Spanish law before foreign courts, especially English and US courts, and as arbitrator and party counsel in domestic and international arbitrations. He is listed in the arbitrators' roster of the Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid, of the Madrid Law Society and of the Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima. Member of the ICC Spanish National Committee and the London Court of International Arbitration.

He is a frequent lecturer and moderator in conferences and seminars, as well as being the author of several articles on corporate, contract, insurance, civil liability and civil/commercial litigation matters. He is also a member of the Lima and Madrid Law Societies, IBA, FDCC, PLUS, SEAIDA (the Spanish arm of AIDA, the International Association of Insurance Law), IACP, DRI, ICC, LCIA and the Spanish Arbitration Club. He is currently the Chairman of the Reinsurance Working Party of AIDA.

He was nominated in the 2001 Guide to the World’s Leading Litigation Lawyers; the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2015 Insurance and Reinsurance Expert Guide and the 2006, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Guide to the World’s Leading Commercial Arbitration Lawyers, of the Expert Guide Series published by Legal Media Group.
