Ken-Ying Tseng

Ken-Ying’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions/joint ventures of cable television systems operators, e-commerce/ dotcom companies, on-line games companies, news media, telecommunications, retail business, and other high-tech companies in technology industries such as electronics/ semiconductors/EMC testing industries and so on. She has extensive experience in cross-border M&A transactions, having advised multinational companies on compliance, procedures and requisite applications in respect of this particular field.

A few outstanding examples of the transactions that she has successfully handled include the refranchising of McDonald’s business in Taiwan as part of McDonald’s global refranchising strategy, the restructuring of the Mstar Group, Micrel’s acquisition of Phaselink, Yahoo!’s various investments in Taiwan, the transfer of the CNS Group (the largest MSO in Taiwan) to MBK, various acquisitions with regard to China Times Group, Qualcomm’s sale of assets in Taiwan, Energy Absolute’s acquisitions in Taiwan, Nexon’s investment in Taiwan, Aleees’ joint venture with FDG, the acquisition of Neocom by eBay, NTT DoCoMo’s investment in KG Telecomm, among others.

In addition to the above, Ken-Ying’s technology practice covers personal data protection, artificial intelligence, fintech, OTT, e-payments, P2P lending, instant messengers, social media, sharing economy, e-signatures, internet security, e-trading, ICP, MOD, cable TV, and satellite TV.

Ken-Ying is a special consultant to the National Development Council of Taiwan on personal data protection matters. She serves as a supervisor of the Taiwan Internet and E-commerce Association, a member of the International Affairs Committee of TWNIC, a director of the National Information Infrastructure Enterprise Promotion Association, and a director of the Secured Online Shopping Association.

Ken-Ying received an LLM from Harvard Law School after obtaining an LLM and an LLB from National Taiwan University. She headed Lee and Li’s M&A Practice Group for more than 10 years.
