Mr. Zhouand was born in Afghanistan and emigrated to Australia in 1982. He was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Australia in 2001. Until 2008, Mr. Zhouand worked with major Australian law firms, representing some of Australia’s largest organizations, on a diverse range of national and cross-border transactions and financings. Mr. Zhouand returned to Afghanistan in 2008 to work as Senior Legal Counsel with Roshan, where, until early 2011, he co-led Roshan’s legal and government affairs team with Mr. Satchu, and was also in charge of the legal and regulatory function for Roshan’s wholly owned subsidiary, M-Paisa, until entering into partnership with Mr. Satchu in early 2011 to form Satchu & Zhouand. Mr. Zhouand’s clients currently include leading international development finance institutions, international corporations across a number of sectors, the Government of Afghanistan and non-government organizations.
