Uri’s practice includes Intellectual property, including complex trademark litigation, advertising law, consumer protection law and competition / antitrust law. He is currently the senior partner of Weinstok Abogados.  He has litigated in  leading cases in Advertising and Unfair Competition issues.  He advises local and international clients in issues related to consumer, competition, promotions, and advertising Law issues, both from a preventive perspective and also litigating before the authorities.  In addition, he represents clients in anti-counterfeiting and other IP litigation matters.

He is a Former Chairman of the Competition Authority and an international consultant for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).  He drafted the “Handbook of Good Commercial Practices towards Consumers”, which was adopted by the Consumer Protection Authority as their official guidebook for the private sector.  He is the author of the Advertising Industry’s Self-regulation Code.  He has written numerous articles and spoken at several conferences on Advertising, Consumer and Intellectual Property Law issues. Uri was named as one of the “40 under 40” professionals by Costa Rica’s main financial newspaper, El Financiero.

Uri is active in the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA), an international organization of lawyers with expertise in advertising, marketing, and promotion law and in which Weinstok Abogados is the exclusive member in Costa Rica.  Previously, Uri was the president of the America’s region.
