Carol heads the Zhong Lun labour and employment law practice group. Prior to joining Zhong Lun Law Firm, Carol was a key member to the employment practice group of a major international law firm. Before practicing in law firms, Carol accumulated more than 10 years of experience working as Head of Human Resources in Asia and China for several international companies where she was responsible for overall HR function and employee relations.
Carol’s team provides both contentious and non-contentious service. For the contentious service, it is mainly focused on domestic litigation in China and handles with foreign-related disputes. For the non-contentious service, in addition to counsel on PRC employment regulation, Carol and her team are especially experienced in advising complicated cross-border employment arrangement. Carol’s clients now include plenty of renowned multinationals, large state-owned enterprises in China, large-scale financial institutions and international law firms.
Carol’s specialised areas cover all aspects of labour & employment related matters, including from hiring to firing, establishment and enforcement of company policies, HR documentations, employee compensation & benefits, social insurance, mass redundancies, labour dispatch and transition, cross-border employment issues, employee transition in mergers & acquisitions, trade union matters, global mobility and immigration, anti-corruption investigation and training, due diligence of human resources compliance as well as labour dispute resolution in China.
Different legal rating agencies have highly recognised Carol’s expertise, including Legal 500, China Law & Practice and Chambers Asia Pacific which ranked Carol as Band 1 Employment lawyer in 2019. Carol has also been appointed as an officer of the Diversity and Equality Law Committee at the International Bar Association, frequently serving as panel speaker at various international conferences or seminars on trending topics in the field of employment and labour practice.
