Dong (Eric) Liu

Professional Experience

Mr Liu began practicing law in 1997 and joined Han Kun Law Offices in February 2011.

He specialises in cross-border arbitration and litigation, especially disputes involving cross-border transactions and commercial contracts; he also has extensive experience in assisting clients to develop and establish efficient legal risk management mechanisms.

He is knowledgeable of the commercial environment in China and is widely recognised for solving clients’ problems in various industries through both contentious and non-contentious approaches.

Mr Liu has represented many well-known multinational corporations in arbitrations and litigations and consistently obtains favourable judgments/awards for his clients. He has extensive experience in representing clients in domestic and overseas arbitral institutions and has ample experience in representing clients before courts of various levels, including the Supreme People’s Court of China. Mr Liu has also assisted clients as a Chinese law expert witness in various overseas arbitrations and litigations.

Mr Liu is currently representing a client in four lawsuits tried by the Second International Commercial Court of the Supreme People’s Court of China. These are the first batch of cases tried by this court after being established.

He was recognised as “Leading Lawyer in Dispute Resolution” by various legal rating agencies.

Education

Mr Liu graduated from Lanzhou University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics & Information Technology in 1994. He also studied in the United Kingdom and received an LL.M. in International Business Law from the University of Exeter in 2006.
